On Wednesday afternoon there was a practice session from 6pm until 8pm and then again from 10pm to Midnight. We wandered over to the grandstand to find our seats but went in the wrong entrance. The guy on the gate was still getting used to the various tickets and bands people had on and so let us through by accident. We ended up wandering into the pits area and then through to the actual pitlane where we saw lots of action first hand and did our best to get in everyone’s way.

We certainly did not expect to get this close to the cars or drivers, but it all seemed fairly relaxed, apart from mechanics sprinting about the place. The teams were practicing pit stops and were replacing the two main pieces of body panel on the LMP01 cars a couple of times each stop. There were lots of spares of these lying around and were incredibly light when we picked one up - with two fingers!

The drivers seemed to be enjoying themselves and were more than happy to pose for photos.
