Friday seems to be the main day for showing off your car and checking other cars. Indianapolis corner gets quite busy with all sorts of exotica parked along the sides and nice cars cruising up and down along the open section of the track. Traffic gets quite heavy and inevitably a few burn outs and donuts occur. This year they were rapidly pounced on by the Gendarmes, and there were radar guns everywhere.
A number of drivers were warned by the police and so it was fairly sedate.
Later in the day the straight road beside Park Bleau is used as a drag strip with drivers being stopped by the semi-drunken crowd and asked to do wheel spins. Those who dont comply get drenched with water pistols. The front wheel drive cars had a distinct advantage using the handbrake and spinning the wheels. In some places the tarmac melted from the heat off the tyres. We watch from on top of a nearby bank but many spectators actually stood on the narrow road while this was going on.
