Prior to the start of the main race there was a Classics race for previous cars that had competed at Le Mans. Some of there cars were worth a fortune and many did not have any replacement panels available. Still, the drivers were thrashing them round the track and putting them to good use.
We went in to the holding area behind the main grandstand after the race and chatted to the various mechanics working on the cars and had a good look at them. Additionally there were about 20 semi-trailers chock full of race tyres for the main race, anong with other various repair crews including one group who fixed damaged carbon fibre panels.
